Hey well if your looking for a first bike for someone whos 17 then id recommend one of these, there not too high from the ground so if your short then youll be fine but if your over say 6ft then it might be a little uncomfortable on longer journeys, its very light so its not a problem if you are a smaller build of person, it corners ridiculously well for a 125, if i had leathers on id think you could almost scrape your knee in some corners :P. it pulls well with the single cylinder engine, and with the fuel injection it makes it really smooth at accelerating. Ive had this bike now for nearly a year in the next few months and ive never ever had a problem with it, the only thing i could possibly complain about with this bike is the gear lever is too low when its standard so all you need to do is just bump it up a few spines on the gear shaft thing and then you can ride it with ease, overall a very very good 125, the other yamaha, the yzf125r is way overpriced for a 125 and considering this and the yzf125r have the same engine and do the same speeds then its up to personal preference, but for a good commuting bike this is EPIC!!!! if you ride it economically then you can get about 90-100mpg out of it :)
Hope that helps.
Ben.
